Late afternoon run on a hot summer day after a long and exhausting day at work without proper hydration all day seemed like a no big deal at the time. I have to stick to my regiment and continue intense training for my first 50k trail run. First couple of miles went by fast and I felt good about putting another run in the books.
All of a sudden, I came to realize that there was something different about this run. It seemed as I had no control of my legs. They just kept moving carrying me through the trail. Trees, bushes and occasional people seemed to float by me in a slow motion. Every time I turned my head and look at something it took a second for the image to catch up with my eyes.
It freaked me out. I’ve never experienced anything like that before. I was dehydrated! It hit me fast. I ran another mile or so just to “give it a chance” in case it went away. Well, it didn’t. I made a decision to stop. My mouth was dry. All I could think was a big drink of water. I didn’t want to stop running, but I had to listen to my body. My body was saying to walk back home, hydrate and rest.
As soon as I “floated” back to my house, I drank a bottle of Baqua. About ten or fifteen minutes later I was back in the real world. I regained the clearness of mind. The images were sharp and moved with the movement of my eyes without delays.
During my training for 50k, I was introduced to Baqua–Ancient Grain Tisanes. Baqua is a refreshing artisan beverage crafted from ancient grains like Barley, Amaranth, Quinoa, Oats, Chia, Buckwheat, and Millet and delicious organic juices. This drink is made of natural ingredients unlike vast majority of big brand sport drinks.
The Apple Ginger Baqua is an “explosion” of sensation in your body.
Baqua currently comes in three flavors. My absolute favorite is Apple Ginger. It is my drink of choice after my runs. The spiciness of ginger may sound like a bad idea when your body is generating ton of heat after a run and all you want is something to cool you down. The Apple Ginger Baqua is an “explosion” of sensation in your body. You drink it cold after a run. It goes down cold. Then ginger kicks in with a light burning sensation. And then it turns into a warm and relaxing feeling.
I love Baqua! It tastes great. It helps me recover after running and makes me feel good about putting something good inside my body. Just trying to share something that I found beneficial to myself and support my good friend in her endeavors.
